1984 Mercedes-Benz Blueberry 500 SEL 5.0 AMG

Long before it was absorbed by Mercedes-Benz, AMG short for Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach was making modified performance versions of MB's cars. In the early 1980s, Hans Werner Aufrecht was looking to find a US agent, met Richard Buxbaum of Classic Motors in Westmont, Illinois, and AMG North America was born. During their conversations, Buxbaum told Aufrecht about his inability to find a 500 SEL in great colors. Aufrecht listened and had this 500 SEL 5.0 AMG built in secret. Dubbed Blueberry for its Lapis Blue Metallic exterior, it was outfitted with Orion Grey leather upholstery, pickled grey wood trim, an Italvolanti Corsa steering wheel, AMG gauges, a sports exhaust system, 16-inch light alloy Penta wheels, and a Bilstein sports suspension system. Fully recommissioned and offered from Buxbaum's ownership, it's an outstanding example of the sports sedan, with unmatched provenance.
