gemTrust™
Auditing system for Lotteries
The Internal Control System (ICS) is a critical tool used by on-line lotteries to ensure the integrity of the games and products offered to the public. Lotteries need an auditing tool that can verify that the prizes and results reported by their on-line systems are indeed correct; they need the information quickly and they need a system they can trust.
The gemTrust™ ICS system, from Lapis Software Associates, was developed by lottery industry specialists who understand the strict security requirements of these systems. Since our inception in 1994 as a software development and consulting company, we have developed a reputation that we are proud of. We have formed long-term relationships with many clients and have managed to assist them in areas where our expertise has given them an advantage.
gemTrust™ was developed using some key guidelines that we had assembled as a result of our experience in the lottery and software development industries. By following these guidelines, we were assured that the final product would have the following characteristics:
- Reliability. By the very nature of the product, lotteries need a system whose results they can trust. In the event of deciding whether to authorize payout of millions of dollars in prize money, lottery executives need to have confidence that the ICS system is reliable. gemTrust™ was developed by using well proven development methodologies.
- Scalability. Lotteries can vary greatly in the number of terminals and transactions they support. The gemTrust™ product was developed to run on either Intel based Microsoft NT, or UNIX platforms. Within these platforms, we are able to scale the systems to offer a wide range of processing and storage capabilities.
- Usability. In using the product, the key requirement is that the system be easy to use without a long learning curve. By using state-of-the-art development products, gemTrust™ has a user interface that effectively leads the user through the required steps.
- Flexibility. In order to meet the varying requirements of our customers and the games they provide, our experience indicate that the system should be flexible to allow new games and features to be added with a minimum of development impact.
